The SS4200-E manager tool doesn't allow an email address to be used for the Email Login field even though many hosting sites authenticate to their SMTP server using an email address as the login user ID. To get around this limitation:
1. Go ahead and fill in all the Email Notification field entries especially the Email Password and put in any value in the Email Login field that the tool will accept.
2. Click off the Send a test email message box to avoid it sending an invalid email.
3. Click the Apply button, and then follow the previous blog entry to access the SS4200-E via ssh.
4. cd /etc
5. vi sohoFlash.xml
6. Find line that starts with "EMail Destination=" directive
7. Find the User= parameter in that line and modify its value to the correct user ID that is an email address
8. :wq
9. You can verify by refreshing the Email notification settings screen
